When an ultrasonic plastic welder is applied to a thermoplastic contact surface, it generates tens of thousands of high-frequency vibrations per second. This high frequency vibration with a certain amplitude will transmit ultrasonic energy through the upper welding joint to the weld area and will produce local high temperature due to the large acoustic impedance at the weld area (i.e. the interface between the two welds). In addition, due to the poor thermal conductivity of the plastic, it cannot be distributed and clustered in the welding area in time, leading to the rapid melting of the contact surface of the two plastics and the fusion into a whole after a certain pressure. After the ultrasonic wave stops acting, let the pressure continue for a few seconds, so that it solidifies and forms, thus forming a strong molecular chain to achieve the purpose of welding, welding strength can be close to the strength of raw materials. The quality of ultrasonic plastic welding depends on the amplitude of the welding joint of the transducer, the pressure applied and the welding time. The welding time and welding joint pressure can be adjusted, and the amplitude is determined by the sensor and the horn. The interaction of these three quantities has appropriate values. When the energy exceeds the appropriate value, the melting amount of plastic will be large, and the welding parts will easily deform. If the energy is small, the welding is not easy and the pressure applied is not too great. The pressure is the product of the side length of the welded part and the pressure at each 1mm edge.

There are no bolts, nails, fasteners, welding materials or adhesives during the ultrasonic welding process. It is faster than conventional adhesives or glues and dries very quickly.
